Understanding Slider IDs

Every slider you create in FlipSlide gets a unique Slider ID. This ID is how your storefront knows which slider to display when a customer visits a page.

What Is a Slider ID?

A Slider ID is a short, unique code that identifies a specific slider. It looks something like abc123xy and is automatically generated when you create a new slider. You don't need to set it yourself.

Think of it like an address for your slider. When you add a FlipSlide block to your theme or paste an embed code, the Slider ID tells the system exactly which slider to load and show to your customers.

Where to Find It

You can find a slider's ID in a few places:

  1. Embed popup: Click the Embed button on any slider in your list. The Slider ID is displayed prominently at the top of the popup with a copy button
  2. Slider editor: When editing a slider, the ID is shown near the top of the page
  3. Sliders table: The ID is visible in the slider list for quick reference

How to Use It

When placing a slider on your store, you'll paste the Slider ID into one of two places depending on your method:

  • Theme Editor: Paste it into the FlipSlide block's "Slider ID" settings field
  • Embed Code: The ID is already included in the embed code snippet, so you just copy and paste the whole thing

For detailed instructions on both methods, see Embedding Sliders on Your Store.

Important Things to Know

  • Each slider has a unique ID. No two sliders share the same one
  • The ID stays the same even if you edit the slider's title, images, or style
  • If you duplicate a slider, the copy gets a brand new ID
  • If you delete a slider, that ID stops working. Any theme blocks or embed codes using it will show nothing

When copying a Slider ID, make sure you don't accidentally include extra spaces before or after it. Extra whitespace can prevent the slider from loading correctly.
